I love this dress and the silhouette it gives me.

I love this dress and the silhouette it gives me. Of course you need the right things underneath...
This dress was actually bought as a Jessica Rabbit dress from Ali Express years ago. I thought being essentially cosplay it was going to be quite cheap with little elasticity, but actually it was really well made from quality thick stretchy lycra.
Not knowing how stretchy the material was going to be I had ordered a large thinking I could always take it in, while letting something out is much more difficult.
On trying it on it it would ruck (gather) around my 30" waist. So for years I thought the dress was too large and was consigned to my alterations list.
Recently, I thought I'd try it with my new 36G boobs. I teamed it with a lightweight, short (20cm), underbust, pink corset. Underbust corsets give the wearer much more flexibility than overbust designs. Being lightweight it has also molded to my shape better. (Some corsets are really heavy being made from canvas and take ages to break in).
Now, the combination of the dress, boobs and corset gives me a great figure with the rucking and high back of the dress almost completely hiding the corset.
Next, I aim to alter the corset replacing the clip busque at the front with a zip. Zipped corsets are easier to remove, (useful when doing burlesque routines... and many other scenarios) . The zip is also flatter and does not show through garments so easily.
I've learned a lot recently by watching 40s and 50s movies (quite a few of the less successful ones, even staring big names, are freely available on YouTube). I've noticed that 40s and 50s dress styles often had high back and rucked (gathered) finishes, allowing the wearer to conceal a corset under the dress, something that is very difficult with modern thin stretchy material and low cut backs.
